Finishing Touches Part 3

We moved most of our personal belongings into our new garage and are awaiting to move the remainder until after the remnants of Hurricane Jimena hit us.

The piedra lavada on the porch is finished.Sconces are installed on the bodega deck.Electrical outlets (including the trailer electrical) and lights are installed.This is how the construction crew deals with paper/cardboard trash - they burn it. Here is PJ at the bodega entrance (Shelly is up on the deck taking this photo).

 We decided to bite the bullet and join the development craze here, lol. Building a great room on top of the casita. Will give us a place to hang 'together' while we are reading, crafting, stretching, watching TV and an indoor space to eat meals when it is very windy here. Plus Shelly can see the water from here and see if it is a good paddle day. They had to remove the top of the deck railing to attach the new bricks. The workers are FAST! This giant crane had to be brought in to hoist the concrete girders up to the ceiling. The roof will be poured tomorrow. The roof was poured today. More photos to come, check back... Quite a bit of work has been done since we left. The power lines have been cut out and lines will be laid before the tile goes down. The tiles are going in!! Painting and windows later this week with completion next week. Tile is in, needs grout. Windows going in!!! Door installed tomorrow. Please Help

We are beginning the clean up process and it will be long and difficult. But everyone (even those who lost everything and we mean EVERYTHING) are in good spirits. This is the bridge that we walk over every morning with Hunter. This is in the Ranchitos just a few blocks from where we live. We are part of a group who are spearheading getting relief aid to those areas hit the hardest. These areas had a wall of water over 10' high go through their communities resulting in several feet of mud being distributed into their modest homes. The loss of their mattresses, all furniture, clothing, linens, food, etc. In addition these areas do not have drinking water easily available. They are resorting to collecting water from the still flowing creeks that more than likely have dead animals in them contaminating the water....but what other options do they have? NONE. This is an old folks home where the residents had to climb a rickety ladder and spend the night on the roof to escape the rushing...

Hiking Adventures 2022

 It's another year to tackle hillsides that I haven't before and revisit those I love.  The first hike of the season was to a granite cliff in Rancho Nacapule. We can't quite make it to the highest point of the cliff so we continue to an arch behind this cliff that we have hiked to before. This time we approached it from a different direction.  We then veer off and get a little further away from the vehicle than we intended. PJ was on alert that he may have to come get us. In the end we make it all the way back to our vehicle and boy are we tired. There are bike trails across from the Estuary that we have been wanting to see if they are also good hiking trails. And they are, plus look at these views. There is an entire point area in Guaymas that we haven't checked out. We head out searching for El Carricito.
