Wildlife and Art

We hiked Nacapule canyon again. We have to begin the hike by 7 am so we are in shade most of the way. The hike from start to finish takes about 2 1/2 hours and it is a lot of boulder hopping.This path was all the way across the lot we are living on. PJ followed it but didn't see anything. The gardner said it was a large constrictor type snake that would go after the chickens. Luckily this one didn't.

PJ found two baby birds this morning. He brought on inside for a bit thinking he might eye dropper feed it.Shelly took a class in 'encaustic' art which is an ancient form of artwork using melted wax. This is what she began with and this is what it ended up as after many, many layers of fused wax.Here is another one that she did. She will frame this one with sand dollars.

Please Help

We are beginning the clean up process and it will be long and difficult. But everyone (even those who lost everything and we mean EVERYTHING) are in good spirits. This is the bridge that we walk over every morning with Hunter. This is in the Ranchitos just a few blocks from where we live. We are part of a group who are spearheading getting relief aid to those areas hit the hardest. These areas had a wall of water over 10' high go through their communities resulting in several feet of mud being distributed into their modest homes. The loss of their mattresses, all furniture, clothing, linens, food, etc. In addition these areas do not have drinking water easily available. They are resorting to collecting water from the still flowing creeks that more than likely have dead animals in them contaminating the water....but what other options do they have? NONE. This is an old folks home where the residents had to climb a rickety ladder and spend the night on the roof to escape the rushing

Feels Like Summer

The day time temps have been in the 90s this week with the lows getting only into the 60s. It makes for a beautiful day to take out a friend's yacht and spot Finback whales. If this is a preview of temps this summer, we are in big (and we mean brutally hot but tons of fun) trouble.
