Life As We Know It

Guaymas is the town next to us where we do most of our shopping, errands, etc. This is where we get our 5 gallon (garafon) drinking water bottles filled for 7 pesos each (about .50 cents). We went on another 4-wheel adventure in an attempt to find one of the locations we visited on the beach on our boat trip. We came upon a closed gate with a stop sign posted on it. It didn't have a lock on it so we opened it and drove through. Immediately we saw a vehicle so we pulled over and stopped. An entourage of Jeeps approached us. It was the Sonora Drivers 4-Wheel Club. We took this as a sign that it was okay for us to pass this closed gate and we continued on our way. We drove to and found a palapa on the beach that we had visited on our boat trip. We then followed an old road into the hills and came across this palm grove on one of the hillsides. On the way back this was the view of our town. The fishing reports have gotten better so we went out on the boat. We went out about 27 miles from shore and came upon a school of Dorado (mahi mahi). We caught 8 Dorado (throwing 6 back as they were small and females). This is one we kept and got enough filets from it to make about 5 meals for the two of us. Since our selectionof bread is limited here, Shelly had decided to make our own. She had been nurturing her own sour dough starter for 7 days and from it made these two loaves of whole wheat sour dough bread. They were delicious. Next she is going to tackle making bagels. The Day of the Dead is the Mexican celebration on November 2nd but Halloween has made it's presence down here with the kids dressing up and trick or treating. We were invited to a Halloween party and Shelly won the contest for the Most Creepy. She won a bottle of Two Buck Chuck Chardonnay.
