Carreras de Caballos

We went in search of some horse races held nearby.
We drove and drove and asked two policemen where these were. The second policeman offered to escort us there as the road is curvy and we would probably get lost. We arrived a little after the 2 pm start time and were almost the only ones there (not even the horses were there yet).
Spectators and horses began arriving and the first race started at 4 pm (hum, 2 hours late, oh, that's right, we are on Mexican time).
There were 6 races of 2 horses each and it was basically a big drunk fest for the local cowboys. The races were over very quickly but the time in between the races was long. First they had to move the starting gates,
then the horses in the race were paraded,
and then the jockeys on the horses were paraded.
There was a live band
and a lot of folks dancing.
Fun but very dusty.
