No Water!?!?!

About 2 weeks ago there was word of the main water pump into town breaking down and needing replacement. That pump was replaced and then word surfaced of the water company not paying their electrical bill and the electric company shutting down power to the new pump, then word of Indians throwing large boulders into the main well causing the main pump to fail as they do not like 'white' folk, then that the replacement pump failed. Word was that it was going to take about one week to get the new pump delivered. During this time PJ hailed down a water truck going down our street and got our cistern filled. The drivers would not take any money nor any tip but they would take a cold Coca Cola. We are now down to 1/2 full and awaiting return of water to the town possibly tomorrow.

With the lack of water, warmer weather and winds a fire was started a block away from us when an electrical transformer blew. Luckily there were no structures on the lots and no injuries.

Please Help

We are beginning the clean up process and it will be long and difficult. But everyone (even those who lost everything and we mean EVERYTHING) are in good spirits. This is the bridge that we walk over every morning with Hunter. This is in the Ranchitos just a few blocks from where we live. We are part of a group who are spearheading getting relief aid to those areas hit the hardest. These areas had a wall of water over 10' high go through their communities resulting in several feet of mud being distributed into their modest homes. The loss of their mattresses, all furniture, clothing, linens, food, etc. In addition these areas do not have drinking water easily available. They are resorting to collecting water from the still flowing creeks that more than likely have dead animals in them contaminating the water....but what other options do they have? NONE. This is an old folks home where the residents had to climb a rickety ladder and spend the night on the roof to escape the rushing

Feels Like Summer

The day time temps have been in the 90s this week with the lows getting only into the 60s. It makes for a beautiful day to take out a friend's yacht and spot Finback whales. If this is a preview of temps this summer, we are in big (and we mean brutally hot but tons of fun) trouble.
