All Things Mexican

Mexicans drive fast but move slow at everything else.
An errand run that you think will only take an hour takes several hours.

Cottage cheese is very large curd and very good.
Only one variety of cheese packaged a few different ways.
Tortillas with every meal.
Margarine spread is very yellow and waxy.
No non-flavored yogurt ('natural' yogurt is actually sweetened yogurt).
No Mexican brand cranberry juice.
Wine selection is limited but ok so far.
Only one kind of lettuce - iceberg.
Gotta love pozole.
Dog food is sold in bulk.
The 'check engine' light came on in the Jeep. We had the code read at the Auto Zone store in Guaymas and the reading was 'gasolina'. The guy at Auto Zone reset the Jeep's system and turned off the light for us.

Gotta love lizards, toads, bugs, etc. This guy (below) was about 6" across his back and is a Colorado River Toad. Extremely poisonous, if Hunter even licks him once he would most likely die.

Please Help

We are beginning the clean up process and it will be long and difficult. But everyone (even those who lost everything and we mean EVERYTHING) are in good spirits. This is the bridge that we walk over every morning with Hunter. This is in the Ranchitos just a few blocks from where we live. We are part of a group who are spearheading getting relief aid to those areas hit the hardest. These areas had a wall of water over 10' high go through their communities resulting in several feet of mud being distributed into their modest homes. The loss of their mattresses, all furniture, clothing, linens, food, etc. In addition these areas do not have drinking water easily available. They are resorting to collecting water from the still flowing creeks that more than likely have dead animals in them contaminating the water....but what other options do they have? NONE. This is an old folks home where the residents had to climb a rickety ladder and spend the night on the roof to escape the rushing

Feels Like Summer

The day time temps have been in the 90s this week with the lows getting only into the 60s. It makes for a beautiful day to take out a friend's yacht and spot Finback whales. If this is a preview of temps this summer, we are in big (and we mean brutally hot but tons of fun) trouble.
