Finishing Touches Part 2 & Move into Garage

Image
The glass goes into the Ojo de Buey in the bathroom. The windows and ceiling fans go in. For some reason we don't quite understand these are temporary windows until our double paned windows are ready. The piedra lavada (small beach stones and shells in concrete) gets poured on the steps and porch. The garage gets some of its occupants moved in. Here is an overall view of our lot.

New Addition to our Family

Her name is Andale and she is a desert tortoise. So far she won't eat anything we give her but we are hopeful. Shelly got our previous tortoise 'Speedy' to eat from her hand in a very short time.

Finishing Touches Part 1

We are in the final stretch of our construction. We met with our builder yesterday and were told that the bodega will be completed this weekend so we can begin moving our stuff over. We now have water. The glass cactus blocks are in. The exterior painting is done. The tile in the casita is set in place. The front main gate track is put down. We should be able to move the trailer over in about a week.

The Mexico World Series

We have become fans of the Guaymas (the next town over) Ostioneros baseball team. They are part of the Ligue Norte de Mexico (one of three leagues in Mexico). They have not won their series finale since 1967 and this year THEY WON!!! Watching the home games was very exciting even though the weather conditions were steam room-like. We learned the cheers of the fans and shouted right along with them. We got to know the players names, numbers, and positions. We watched the antics of the mascots which can be very risque at times. We went to their winning celebration and got the players to sign Shelly's team t-shirt (this is the first baseman Josef Lopez - "El Toro" #9). GO OSTIONEROS!!!!!
