Image
Here are more of our critter friends.... A sailfish PJ caught this last week. The chickens on the lot we are living on. and those we don't care for... Yep, a scorpion. Crickets inside the garage.

Various Photos of Our Area

Image
Here are some photos of this area. This is an abandoned homestead from 1674 that had several water features, horse stables, different living quarters, a grandstand for possibly bullfights, and several gathering areas. The coast to the North of us. The sky with Hurricane Norbert approaching. We visited a small tienda (store) in our area that is referred to as the 'American' store. We were told you can buy things here that you can't find other places and that each item is $5. We bought a large jar of peperoncinis, a small jar of horshradish, and two packages of Lucerne cheese; sharp cheddar and swiss, and these totaled $24. We will limit are purchses here except for those cravings we just can't live without.

Keeping an Eye on Hurricane Norbert

Just when we thought we were going to get through the hurricane season (ends October 31st) without another storm, here is what is on our horizon and it is heading straight at us;

It's All About What You Can Find

Image
A lot of typical Stateside items are not available here but when you can find something you are not expecting, you are more than satisfied. For instance; Caguamas (quarts) of Tecate Lite beer for $1.62 each Kilos of halibut for $6.50 1/2 kilo of the biggest blue/white shrimp you have ever seen (18 count) for $6.50 No Baileys but instead a Tequila Cream Liquor for $19.50 Polish vodka for $7.00 Double sized fresh baked cupcakes of the lightest sponge cake for .30 Inexpensive wines from Chile and Argentina as they do not pay an import fee into Mexico This bag of oranges for fresh squeezed OJ for $5.00

And Just Like That....

the weather changed. Just like everyone says it is like a light switch is flipped. Yesterday we woke up to humidity in the 30% range. Every morning prior to this the humidity was in the 70% range so this is quite a change. The high temperature only got to 88 degrees so that was a welcome change too. It is cooler and there are less bugs meaning we can sit outside during dusk hours. And we are not running our a/c at night, San Carlos is great!
