The Trailer

We get word via an email that the trailer won't be ready for pick up until 'later in July'. We were worried that the recent flooding in Iowa might delay the delivery of our trailer but this is not the case, the delay is with the manufacturer in New York. Our stay in Colorado has been great and Shelly's family has been very gracious but we are tired of living out of suitcases. We also don't know anymore what things we have with us and this is frustrating. We got our mail to our address in South Dakota forwarded to Shelly's dads address. Now we just wait.

Colorado June 13 - 29

We leave the cabin and head for Shelly's dad in Aurora, CO where we have internet service and feel connected to the world again. We appreciate the time at the cabin where we didn't have it though and realize this made us slow down and find other activities to keep us occupied. It is warmer here than in the mountains and we enjoy wearing less clothing. There are thunderstorms and lightning about every other day and we love watching and listening to these. We drive to Timnath Lake which is located just South of Ft. Collins (and in an area labeled tornado alley) where Shelly's dad has an improved lake front lot with their RV, boat, and ATVs there. There are millions of mosquitoes but thankfully they are not developed enough to bite yet and it is weird having them swarm around you. We ride in the boat and on the ATVs. We drive to Windsor where a tornado hit on May 22nd and view the devastating damage. We take the dogs in the boat and Shelly gets Hunter to jump off the boat to

Colorado June 2 - 13

We arrive at Shelly's moms cabin outside of Granby, Colorado mid-afternoon. As we head up the dirt road to the cabin, a deer jumps across the road right in front of us. As Hunter has been in the car for two days now, we decide to have him run 2 miles to the cabin to wear him out. Hunter takes off behind us after the deer. He doesn't go far but in running back toward us he crosses a cattle guard in the road and falls into it. He is limping but nothing luckily appears to be broken. As always the cabin and surrounding area is spectacular. At this altitude (approx. 8,500') we feel the affects of alcohol more and PJ is in bed and snoring by 6 pm. We ride the ATV to the top of a nearby mountain where there is still 4' of snow and we get hailed on. We hustle back down as the hail stings when it hits us. We ride the ATV on another day and see a moose. We discover that AT&T does not have cell service in this area and feel a little out of touch due to no phone or email conta

Our departure from California

Image
We left our hood around 9:30 am a little hung over (after two nights of parties - the one above is from Friday night), with a lot of tears, and still in this surreal state as 'we are really doing this'. We had a wonderful going away party last night (Saturday) hosted by our great neighbor and friend, Carrie. We are so thankful to everyone who came to our party to see us off and wish us well. While it was sad saying goodbye, we will keep in touch and we hope to have lots of visitors once we get settled in San Carlos. We spent last night sleeping on our cots in the living room of our other great neighbors and friends; Bob, Sue & Casey. It was saying goodbye to these two wonderful neighbors and friends that it hit us that we are really leaving. Then we drove away from Buccaneer Court, San Juan Capistrano, Orange County, and then California. We drove to Richfield, UT and spent the night in a hotel (sneaking Hunter in with us). The drive through Arizona and Utah was gorgeous.
